Ériu, Irelands Name Giver Celebrated in This Stunning new Collection
Ériu is the mythological goddess of the Tuatha Dé Danann who gave her name as both Éire and Erin, to the island of Ireland. Martina was drawn to the legend of how Ériu, as a Goddess of Sovereignty, became the embodiment of the land on which the Tuatha Dé Danann dwelt.
“As I understand it Ériu became the land, that she is Ireland. We immediately recognise the concept of mother earth across so many cultures, but Ériu is Ireland’s own version of this concept, she is of our own mythos and creation mythology. So, my narrative impulse creating this collection was to allow the personality of the wearer, who they are, what they represent, to inhabit the collection, to be embodied through it when they wear it upon themselves, against their skin.
