"Irish jewellery design has skill at its core. The standard of craftsmanship and metalsmithing is at an International level; form is considered and detail is meticulous. Yellow gold and graphic, clean shapes are strong trends in their own right, but together they make a bold statement. Irish makers continue to work with this trend, producing wearable, covetable pieces as presented in this edit. It is a pleasure in particular to discover new voices with a confident aesthetic every year at Showcase."

Martina Hamilton- Bean Ri Collection. Stand C53

Martina Hamilton’s Bean Ri collection was named Best Irish Jewellery Collection by Showcase Ireland 2015 and the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland.

Martina was invited by The National Museum of Ireland to create a range of jewellery which would celebrate the mythical Queen warriors of Irish mythology. For inspiration she drew on the Museum’s extensive display of Bronze and Stone Age spear heads, objects which like the formidable women being celebrated, are both beautiful and terrifying. Martina took these shapes and gave them a contemporary feel and elegance.

The resulting collection retains a striking spearhead quality but has a candle flame warmth and eloquence. The natural beauty of the collection, which is handmade in Martina’s Sligo studio, married to its source of inspiration makes this collection a choice of particular distinction.

The collection is available through The National Museum of Ireland and selected jewellery and Irish craft stockists nationwide.

Martina Hamilton will be launching her New Jewellery Collection at Showcase 2017.
